I want a treadmill. For Christmas, for Easter, for National Treadmill Day, it doesn't matter. I want a treadmill. I guess I should say I want a more convenient, any-time-I-want-to, not out in the sun and heat, not with the kids in tow, early in the morning or late at night way to exercise. I've tried so many different ways to exercise and, though the weight has come off, the flabberty-jabberty hasn't budged...except it all sags, wags, and drags. So I want a treadmill. And so does Braden.Trouble is, I think it is dumb to spend hundreds on exercise equipment. Especially because 9 out of 10 don't end up getting used. So, we want an inexpensive treadmill. But Braden, who has used many treadmills at the gym in his life, doesn't want to get a cheap treadmill because he wants one that is durable.
I've been searching on craigslist for months, never seriously looking, but always hoping to find that "Free Treadmill. If your name is Cheri Moore, come get it!" It's never been there. There are the 5 and 10 cent variety of treadmills that the reviews tell you to stay away from, like ProForm, which is most advertised on craigslist.
Do you have any experience? Do you have any reviews, warnings, advice? Do you know of a good place to find an inexpensive but not cheap treadmill? Oh, and when I say inexpensive, I mean REALLY inexpensive. Why spend $1000 when God gave me arms, legs, and the ability to do a lot for free? Well, because I don't want to do all that free stuff in the Arizona heat. But it's still not worth $1000. Or even $500. Or even...you get the idea.

6 years ago we bought a used treadmill, the brand is precor. It has been great the only trouble we've had was a small child was swinging from the hand rails and fell on the plastic part covering the motor and broke it to pieces. I was nervous to use it with the motor exposed so Gregg decided he was going to send it to the dump rather than pay the $100 to fix the plastic. However when he called the Precor lady she talked him out of it saying our treadmill was a really great brand and would last us forever. We had no idea so we went ahead and fixed the plastic and it's still working like a gem! We love it! I don't know much about any other brands, but Precor seems to be a great one! I'll keep on the look out for you!
I have a nordic trac and I love it. I've had it for 2 years, many miles. Good luck finding a cheap used one though, if I now of any I'll let you know. :)
Good luck with the treadmill. It never really worked for me, but we also never owned one. We had access to them, but still didn't use it. But that's because either one of us like running.
I see treadmills on the N. Scottsdale/Fountain Hills Freecycle all the time -- but I remember the Queen Creek Freecyle royally stinking.
BUT
I think a lot of Arizonans want a treadmill come the end of summer -- because we forget that the weather then becomes gorgeous and we can exercise outside Oct through Mayish.
Look what I just found:
