I'm pregnant. You knew that. But I'm almost 16 weeks and I'm still not back to 100% when it comes to food. I can eat anything I want, except for sweets. They make me sick. But the problem is, I'm still at a point where I have to really, really, REALLY want what we're going to eat. So, just whipping something together because it's on the menu doesn't work. I can't create a menu until the day of because I don't know what I'm going to want. That's my problem.
I'm stuck in a meal rut. Not that I don't have 150 recipes to choose from that I normally would like, but because I've looked thru them 150 times in the last 16 weeks and need some additional information. So, could you comment and tell me the last 7 homecooked meals your family has eaten, or at least 7 homecooked meals you can remember having eaten, or that you'd recommend? I just need ideas. If I love the sound of it, I may be emailing you for a recipe, unless I have one. I just need ideas...
I'll do the same for you. Here's what we've eaten recently: Green Chile Chicken Enchiladas made lasagna style, Country Style Steak (see next post), BBQ'd hamburgers, Pizza Rolls, Chicken Chimichangas (not deep fried), 505 Pork burritos, and Grandpa's Pancakes. I really need NON-meat ideas, as you can see.

Lemon Chicken & Rice, Black Eyed Pea something or other from Lindsay (served over rice with tomatoes, green peppers, etc...like Hawaiian Haystacks), Banana Encrusted Talapia WOW--that was when we went out to eat--Pizza, Lemon/Garlic Pork Roast with Mashed Potatoes, Tostadas, Southwest salad w/ the tortilla strips, creamed egg on toast (just make it!...noodles for taryn is not that hard to make)
Taco salad. Chop up lettuce, cook some ground beef (or ground turkey--or just skip the meat), grate some cheese, mash up some avocados with lemon juice and garlic, grab some salsa, add sour cream, and voila! That's what we had a couple night ago and it was yummy. Easy and last-minute. So just keep the stuff on hand until you're in the mood for it.
last 5 meals at our house:
1) enchilada casserole
2) baked spaghetti
3) bacon, tomato, avocado salad
4) homemade pizza
5) quesadillas
sorry, we're boring. But I have some variety of a salad most everyday for lunch. I alternate between bbq sauce and salsa for dressings. good luck!
We had my husbands absolute favorite meal tonight - skillet ziti with chicken and broccoli (we did it tonight without the chicken and it's still wonderful), so easy and delicious, however broccoli is a gassy food so maybe not the best for pregnancy. Past few days we've had Cashew Chicken, Tortilla Soup, Sloppy Joes, Curry Chicken, and Apple-Fennel Stuffed Pork is on the menu for tomorrow (this ones fabulous too, got it from Rachael Ray). Lots of meats but all very tasty and maybe some different variety for ya!
We eat mainly non-meat. Hope these help:
1) Potato Soup
2) Chili and cornbread (watch out for heartburn)
3) Tostadas....mmmmmm and so easy!!
4) Corn Chowder
5) Spaghetti
6) Fondue
7) Bean Burritos
8) I have this recipe for a black bean salsa chicken. We made it wrong and didn't realize we were supposed to drain off some of the liquid before adding sour cream and some cheese. I'm so glad we were wrong. The chicken was still great, but we had left over "soup" which we broke tortilla chips into and ate like soup. It was SOOOOO good! We still had leftovers so we put some of the sauce in quesadillas and had the BEST chicken quesadillas I have ever had! So yum. It's crockpot, too so SOOO easy and 3 days of yum!
9)Mahi Mahi (Fish)
10) Fajitas
11) Baked "Quiznos" style sandwiches
12) Sloppy Joes
13)Thin Mints and Samoas!
Asparagus Soup
Salsa Chicken Burritos
Broccoli Soup
Mexican Vegetarian Lasagna
Roasted Chicken w/ mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus
Chinese Chicken Salad
Chicken Enchiladas
Chicken Noodle Soup
baked spaghetti
Oh that's more than 7 but all the days are running together for me. Lots of chicken because we roasted a chicken and that means lots of left over chicken pieces for the other meals (excpet the salsa chicken burrittos--crock pot with chicken breasts)
Luck.
Mostly when I was feeling like that Chris and Claire ate whatever and I ate pasta with parmesan cheese grated over it ( I normally hardly ever eat pasta but it seems to be my pregnancy staple)
