Ideas, Ideas, Ideas

I need some ideas. I think birthdays should be special. I think Valentine's Day is great, but a bit over rated. Braden's birthday is just a month before V-Day and mine is just 2 weeks after, so V-Day is just an excuse for a date (though this year's date doesn't even qualify as a date, it was a LAME excuse for a date). Anyway, birthdays are different. I like mine and I like feeling special.

Hence, the problem. We are such boring people!! We can't think outside of the "dinner and a movie" box so our dates are redundant and bland. So, I'm coming to you for ideas!

My birthday is in just a week and a half and I want to have fun! But I just don't even have an idea of what to do. I'd love some great ideas you've done or heard of for cheap, fun, exciting, entertaining dates. It can involve dinner and a movie too, but at least more exciting than the same-ol'-same-ol'.
How about group things? What fun things have you heard of/done with 4+ people? It can be silly, totally college-esque, but it has to be fun and enough to make you laugh. There's nothing I like better than laughing, truly laughing.

How should I celebrate my birthday?

Winner gets a batch of cookies or loaf of bread...your choice

...unless you don't live here. Then you'll have to wait til I'm near you again.

Just a few ideas: We made up a "Mall Scavenger Hunt" including a "food court bingo" date night (I remember a scavenger hunt you did in NZ for an FHE that was awesome!), bring your camera and about $10 in quarters, Make a movie, Do a little service project, and we always have fun with a game night with a group. I've heard good things about Tempe town lake, but I don't know how much it costs. Also, my friend that lives in Mesa just posted that she wants to give a hair cutting class. You bring someone (your spouse)to practice on - I'm sure that could be good for some laughs! here's the link to her blog:http://hairstyles4you.blogspot.com/. Good luck!

Go racecar driving, minature golfing together or one of our favorite bowling. Cheap and fun!

I'm with Nikki on that one...I love mini-golf. But, it's your day and maybe you hate it. We could hike Hole in the Rock at Papago Park at sunset. I've heard that it's got a beautiful view of the valley at dusk. Hiking though...

Tempe Town Lake sounds fun, you're welcome to borrow our roller blades if you want. If you don't want to go so far, Freestone Park in Gilbert has sidewalks too. Grab something for dinner and eat that at the park as well. The weather right now is so amazing I'm definitely for being outside!

I've always wanted to go bowling on my birthday with a group of friends. Dan and I always hit all the places to get a free meal or free stuff. If it was me I would do Joes Farm Grill for breakfast or lunch... Joes BBQ for lunch or dinner, Krispy Kreme for free donuts. The movie theater gives you free popcorn. If you don't have a babysitter your two older girls would probably have fun bowling. The bowling lanes in Gilbert are family friendly and no most important no smoking. I'm not sure if it has changed but Mondays used to be Family Night. I get coupons from them or you can sign up on their website.

I do have to say the best date that Dan took me on when we were dating was the Tempe Improve. For some reason I always remember that. It was like our 3 or 4th date. Later on he took me Santa Fe to visit his parents and that was a lot of fun to. (about a year later we went back and that is when he proposed to me)

We had fun at our rec center park district) one night playing racquetball and then going swimming--not sure if you have something like that. We are going there on Friday with Janae & Enoch.

I remember sitting on the rocks at one of the Evanston beaches reading a book to each other with a flashlight.

Sometimes we go to a place like borders books and listen to their CDs and learn what each other likes. That gives some ideas for birthdays, etc. also.

Walking the Riverwalk in San Antonio a couple weeks ago was a great date as was eating in the restaurant at the Tower of the Americas (rotates so you can see the full 360 view of San Antonio). That may not help you now, but someday you will thank me.

We are going out to eat this week and figuring out our new (to us) cell phones together. Fun!

Good luck.
