Friday: For starters, we got here and found the house locked when it was supposed to be unlocked. Trying to track down the key before all our help left town was like stalking our landlord. Oh wait, it WAS stalking our landlord. I caught some stomach bug from my nephew in Denver and felt pretty miserable Thursday night and all thru Friday.
Saturday: Move in day! The busiest day of my life (see post below). Me still sick. Taryn wakes up throwing up at night.
Sunday: Day of rest. Braden is sick.
Monday: Work at the house. Me up throwing up at night.
Tuesday: Braden's first day at work (thankfully feeling better). I go downstairs to get something from food storage to find the laundry room, bathroom, and part of the carpet are FLOODED! Oh dear. I spend the rest of the morning trying to sort that out with our property management company.
Wednesday: Spend the morning again with the basement. The management company sent a plumber to clean out the pipes and then a carpet cleaning company to clean the carpets. Thank you! Blue and Gold Dinner at night. I discovered that the dishwasher doesn't work.
Thursday: Wash dishes by hand, try to organize the house. It is amazing how having to wash dishes by hand either takes up a LOT of time or results in a sink/kitchen full of dirty dishes. It's not how I wanted to be spending my time. Right as I needed to go pick up Braden from work (did I mention we are a one car family?!), I discover Taryn has locked herself in her room during her nap. So it takes 5 minutes just to wake her up, then another 10 before she is able to unlock the door.
Friday: Keep working at the house, finally go to do a load of laundry...only to discover the washing machine doesn't work. Keara is not feeling well.
Saturday: Celebrate Keara's birthday. Shaun comes over to fix the washing machine and dishwasher. Thank you Shaun!!! He leaves for Spring Break, and I start a load of dishes. Only to find a while later that my kitchen is covered in soap suds! Stop the dishwasher, call my dad...
Later that night, when I had time to find the problem, I found that there was no leak per se under the washer. But still I had bubbles pouring out of the dishwasher. First I started catching them with a pan. Then two. Then three.
I guess the problem isn't entirely solved because it was leaking water tonight, but I know we'll get it taken care of eventually! At least our carpets have now been cleaned and our floors have been mopped. Too bad the carpet is brand new and the floors weren't that dirty. Maybe we could have a repeat performance next year when they both really need it.

Wow! You've sure had a busy month! I'm glad things are getting more settled and that you're so happy! The girls look so cute, it's hard to believe they're so far away!
sheesh! welcome to your new home, right? haha. despite all that's gone wrong this past week...it looks like HEAVEN! So happy for you!! But miss you...
I learned that "don't use dish soap in the dishwasher" lesson at someone elses house when I was 15 and babysitting. I soaked about 4 towels and was so embarrassed when they got home. Glad I only had to learn that one once! Your house looks amazing! What I wouldn't give for that much space...and a basement. I am so glad you are happy and excited to be there, and close to family. I hope Braden's job is golden and you enjoy spring. I can't wait for summer! Maybe someday we will get to see each other again. :)
haha...I put dish soap in a dishwasher way back when before I was domesticated :)
Sorry for such the hard week! Especially the sickness!...I cannot imagine all that work to be done and having to deal with illness! Hope things are getting better! :)
Wow! What a week! I put dish soap into the dishwasher on accident once. It made for great pictures. Ü I hope everyone is feeling better!
