The problem is this: a couple weeks ago, Keara decided to spend her naptime tearing apart 5 books. Just ripped the pages right out of them. And then ripped up the pages into small pieces. And it cost us $22 at the library because one of the books was a library book. She got into trouble, had to apologize to the librarian, and was on time outs from books for a week. No bedtime stories, no books at naps, no books... Taryn also has a problem ripping books. Only with her, its not usually on purpose. Its that she's turning pages and her hand is on the page, so it rips. Or she grabs it at the middle to turn the page and it rips. Whatever the reason, most of our books are now 75% tape because we keep fixing them and giving them back. I just can't bring myself to punish her by taking the books away since a) she's not doing it to be bad and b) she LOVES books. They mean the world to her. And it entertains her so well. But should I be punishing her so she learns to not rip them? What would you do?

Hmmm. I try not to give parenting advice, but since you asked...I'd say no. It's just an age thing. She'll get it soon, maybe just make sure when you're reading to her that you always point out holding the outside edge of the page as you turn it and let her always turn them when she's with you so she can learn. She's adorable!
i wouldn't punish. She's acting totally age appropriate. I just taped up one of claire's books today. (we've got alot of taped up books too).
Its just an age thing...so she acts like that...i not giving punishment to her....
