It's Pumpkin Season

Our whole house is excited about pumpkins right now.  I'm excited because the little pumpkin plants are still alive.  Keara's excited because, frankly, what isn't exciting about pumpkins?!  We talk about them a lot and look for them in the stores or in books or whatever.

So today Keara decided to draw a pumpkin.  If you've ever read "Franklin's Pumpkin" you'll know that Franklin (the turtle) wants to win a blue ribbon in the fall fair.  His friends are baking pies, so he find a REALLY big pumpkin in his garden and decides to make a pie from it.  But the best pumpkin pie pumpkins are really small.  So he changes his plan to win the ribbon for the biggest pumpkin.  But this year, the ribbon is for the biggest zucchini.  So he gives up.

His little sister wants to win a blue ribbon for her princess costume, but everyone ends up being dressed up as a princess, so she comes home crying.  Then Franklin has an idea.  He carves out his pumpkin, turns it into a carriage, and he pulls her sister to the fair in his pumpkin.  That is what inspired Keara's series of drawings today.  The first is Franklin's sister in the pumpkin.  The other two are just other people in a pumpkin.  Her drawing changes all the time, and I love seeing it evolve.
