We need ideas! Avery's birthday is coming up and I need some inspiration for a birthday cake for her. She's not "into" any characters (like Elmo or Dora) or anything else I can think of right now. So, do you have any great ideas of a cake we could do? Or something else that would be great instead of a cake? Let me know your ideas! The winner will be invited to the party!

Cupcakes are fun, especially when they get to decorate their own.
love the catch that we can be invited without the guarantee that we can actually come :)
"The winner will be invited to take a trip to South Africa and dine with the lions while basking in the suns with the willabeasts and muskrats. You will sleep 'neath a canopy of Eucalyptus leaves, with Koalas protecting you from other ghastly creatures. Pay for it yourself, and you will find it is an all-expense-paid trip. Go ahead. We invite you to do this." Gee, thanks for the invitation.
a tu-tu cake? whatever would be pink and frilly and fun! I know Alana LOVES dolls...so doing a doll tutu cake would be fun :) She'd love to see that doll in the middle of the cake!
How about Doraemon cake? :)
A gal in my ward did a "Fancy Nancy" theme party. She read the books with her girls for a couple of weeks ahead of time, and then let them play dressup, and "choose their own party food", and then just did the cake up "fancy" like the one in this picture. Just a thought.
favorite story book, movie or just a pretty cake done in her favorite colors.
For my girl she really loves having cup cakes and a special tea on her birthday (her last she was 6)

This is a girl in arizona that makes cakes. I've had them before and she does a really good job. her blog has some cut ideas. My favirote is the baseball theme for a girl (dad is b-ball player). Also I love the generic 1st birthday cake. No theme just cute colors and design. Hope all is well.
