This post has no pictures. That would be for a couple reasons. One, I never have it when I want it. And more importantly, my camera has officially bit the dust. I bought it in Taiwan (literally) 5 years ago and it has traveled far and wide with me. It got dragged thru sludge and sand in New Zealand and used to make a grinding sound whenever I turned it on because of the sand. It got dropped a few times and still fought back to take good enough pictures to capture the last 5 years of my life. Good thing too, since I bought it 3 weeks before I met Braden. So really, this camera has been a part of the best 5 years of my life thus far. And now, it has refused to continue plugging along. It's been threatening to keel over any day for a couple months and yesterday was it. I got on my beloved Craigslist to find a new used one and found a GREAT deal on a GREAT new used camera. So I quickly emailed the owner and waited for his response. An hour or so later, I got a reply...that somehow his email got attached to that other guy's post and there was no way to contact the camera's owner about the mix up. So, now I have to just keep checking back, hoping the camera owner notices that no one is emailing and doesn't just give up but decides to post again.

But the main reason for this post is because we had a beautiful and would-have-been-picture-perfect outing the other night. We decided to go on a family date and went to McDonalds for an ice cream cone. That's when we realized Keara had never had an ice cream cone before! We gave it to her, wide-eyed and all, and she almost didn't know what to do. We talked her thru each step (you can lick it, Keara and Hold the bottom part (after she grabbed the ice cream part...yes, she is extremely intelligent, but it was dark!)). The greatest was when she got to the cone part and we explained that it was like a cookie that she could eat! It was like we opened a whole new world to her! It was a precious moment, I just wish I had a camera to capture it. Instead, we'll just blog about it and try to remember it for a long time.

Alright, I forgot you had this blog! Now I know what you have been up to...since I haven't felt like leaving the house for a while to visit! ha ha ha! :) Sorry about your camera. I know what it's like to be without...it's like cutting off a limb. :)
Hey--even without a camera, the web images added quite the pizazz to hold my attention through your story...either you're a genius, or my camping-roller coaster-hammock images inspired you :)
we had similar experiences with Carter's first ice cream cone, though it was about a year ago, so the 18-month old was really only concerned about "How do I get that creamy goodness IN me" more than the proper steps...we didn't catch it all on film either. Oh well. But I can TOTALLY imagine Keara's supercharged excited face!
Cheri! I had no idea you have a blog - how fun! It was great to see you guys this summer. Hopefully we can see you again soon.
