Today...and it isn't even noon!

To jump start this blog, I thought I'd post a bit about today. Last night, I told Keara that if she woke up before 7:15 am, she'd have to go back to her room and wait until I told her she could come out. She listened pretty well and came in at 7:08. I asked her to give me 5 more minutes, so she played a minute, then left. A few minutes later, I realized that it was quiet. Too quiet. Then I thought about it...hmm, she's always hungry, so she probably went downstairs to get something to eat. And our pantry lock broke, so she has full access. Okay, what will she find? Uh oh...Oreos. So I quickly got up, knelt to pray, wanting to get downstairs to see the damage as soon as possible. But as I was praying, I heard my door open again. When I looked up, there's Keara, chewing on something, but her face was clean, which meant she had made a good choice and didn't chose the Oreos! Instead, she had pretzels. Great job!
We went downstairs to get breakfast and she says, "Come here mom!" So we go over to the couch, where I find a bag of marshmallows that was thankfully closed so she didn't get into that. Next to the marshmallows was this:
Of course! If you only eat the filling, you won't get chocolate all over your face! Now, all she needs to learn is to REALLY hide the evidence!

After breakfast, I decided to try a project from a book we checked out from the library. Keara doesn't have many make believe toys so Braden and I have been talking about getting her some Little People toys off Craigslist. I thought, maybe I could make her some toys from homemade playdough. So we tried that this morning. It was so fun!

We made farm animals (ducks, cow, rooster, pig, dog, and horse), a farmer, hay bales, a water and hay trough, and a pond for the ducks. Who knows if they'll hold! But at least they're cute!

After that, we came in the living room to create this blog. Lately, it has become more evident than ever how different these girls are. Whereas Keara NEVER had this problem, this is our daily battle. Today, Taryn got more than she ever has before:

Needless to say, I'm grateful for my kids. I'm so grateful to be a mom and even more grateful that, even though we don't have much, we have enough to allow me to be home, learning and growing along side these girls. I figure, as long as we're not all eating dirt for lunch and Oreos for breakfast every day, we're doing pretty well!

The homemade play dough is a pretty good idea. I am always looking for new ideas of what to do with Makenzie since we are at home a lot.

RATS--I deleted a pic I took of Taryn at our picnic in Zions when she face planted in the dirt and was totally unphased with the dirt from forehead to chin...had I known this was a staple at your house, I would have thought twice and saved it for her wedding day!
